A highly regarded okra from Ghana, with a name that translates to “long okra.” This is sometimes called a “tree-okra” as the the striking red stems, bearing large thick walled pods, can grow 7 to 12 feet. Many gardeners prune the tops at 5-8 feet to encourage branching and an easier harvest. The pods, though large, are tender, and prized for their flavor. The leaves and flowers are also used in traditional soups and stews.
