Sweet 3-4” peppers ripen from dark purple, to honey mustard, to a golden orange. Heirloom of the Philadelphia African American community. Folk artist Horace Pippin traded these peppers for medicinal bee stings to alleviate pain from an injury to his arm during his service in WWI.
